Concept

HOW CAN WE USE AI TO GENERATE A ‘NEW NORMAL’ OF DESIGN AESTHETICS, APPEAL TO OUR SENSES IN A MULTISENSORY WAY AND CREATE NEW EXPERIENCES?

This transportation design project is about the representation of the outside world in the interior of the vehicle in the form of morphing colors and shapes. This process, which is implemented with the help of Ai, helps to make the autonomous driving of the future more exciting and to create experiences.

Phase 1: Definition

To create a unique, non-reproducible AI in the cabin, the AI first collects different textures and colours from the outside world and reflects them into the cabin at the right time, depending on the outside world, to enhance the driving experience.

Phase 2: Function & Interpretation

Using an example, you can see the different possible outcomes that this AI could reflect and reproduce. As the AI never reproduces the same thing twice, as it is always different, there are infinite different possibilities.

The texture moves in organic and regular cycles, almost as if it were breathing, to make the Ai seem like a living object.

Phase 3: Vision Board

The light fabrics, the variety of colours, the texture and the delicacy of this board are particularly striking and inspired me in the design of the finished object.

Phase 4: Sketches

The design was inspired by the creatures of the deep sea. The result is an asymmetrical hammock that stands out from conventional designs with its exciting and unusual shapes.

Phase 5: Key Visuals

With the help of Midjourney, the first key visuals were rendered, showing off the organic structures and use.

Phase 6: Exhibition design

For the final touch, I set up this project as I would in a real exhibition. While a projector is shining on a sheet from below, the permeability of the fabric simulates the process as you experience the environment.

Final Output

Following feedback from BMW, a playful and interesting user interface has been created with an experience design. So the driver will never be bored in the future everyday life of autonomous driving.
